Because...

Curiosity and learning is at the heart of our humanity, the springboard to all that is possible.   Our well-being and quality of life depends upon it.

Think about it.  A culture that embraces lifelong learning shapes every aspect of our community:

~  Compassion and responsibility as citizens and neighbours

~  Confidence in our own judgment and abilities

~  Safety to trust and scrutinize our institutions

~  Economic systems that are innovative, competitive and equitable

~  Meaningful employment for an appropriately-skilled workforce

~  Healthful, addiction-free living

~  Opportunities for sport, recreation, and play

~  Courage and capacity to end poverty and homelessness

~  Appreciation for all our diversities - with dignity, without margins

~  Environmental stewardship and resolve

~  Vibrant, crimeless neighbourhoods

~  Fair beginnings and a better world for all our children and youth

~  Creative, imaginative, artistic and cultural expression

~  A welcoming place for newcomers

We can tame and harness the overwhelming change all around us if we have a creative, open-minded, and resourceful society.  In a potential period of uncertainty, shaken trust, and financial constraint, we need hope and optimism for a better future. Amidst the chorus of groups advocating for change, for greater community well-being, we need a unifying principle that enables us all to achieve our potential.
